A Familiar Premise with a New Spin

It parallels of Stephen King’s offspring Joseph Hillstrom King’s new chilling tome, in which six friends call forth the age-old, deeply sinister dragon the Dragon King from the Long Dark to help them defeat some villains. Unsurprisingly, their supernatural ritual backfires.

Celebrating a Authorial Lineage

Joseph Hillström King began his writing journey making great efforts to distance himself from his famous father, using the pseudonym he maintains to this day and eschewing in-person meetings with his agent (he exhibits a striking resemblance to his dad). Yet with this recent release, he embraces it. There are lines that consciously reflect some of the senior author’s well-known (“The man in black fled across the desert …”); a scene that evokes a signature King element (a riddling contest). In this whopper of a novel, Hill is delighting in his family connection, and the audience revels alongside.

Meet the Protagonists

We have Arthur, studious and intelligent, cracking ancient puzzles in his leisure hours; another key figure, rich, sharp, and inclined to bulldoze those who oppose him; Donna and Donovan; the attractive the lovely Allie.
