White House Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to support policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” the principal, the leader of her previous school, told the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event led the administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
